3 Reasons Why Black Businesses Matter!

The theme of Black History Month this year is Resistance. "African Americans have resisted historic and ongoing oppression, in all forms". Supporting Black-Owned Businesses is the ultimate form of resistance to uplift Black voices and the businesses we create!

Read below to learn more about why it's so important to support your local communities and the impact it serves! And how we can help you if you own a Black-Business! 😉

1. They empower local communities!
Supporting people around you who are a black-owned business allows you to contribute to local business. When small businesses flourish, so do their communities.

2. They help close the wealth gap!
Tracing all the way back to the Jim Crow Era, African-Americans were segregated and discriminated, not allowing them to get higher paying jobs and home ownership oppurtunites. Even today, the median amount of income for a Black household is significantly lower compared to a White household. Supporting Black businesses allows longtime wealth for black folks!

3. They support generational wealth for black communities!

Similarly to closing the wealth gap, creating generational wealth for Black families/communities would allow longtime wealth for generations to come! Generational wealth allows for families to pass down assets that may include money, properties, businesses, or even equipment to support a generation of Black households!
